10 Wiesn Facts

It's Oktoberfest time. And us? We have gathered a few cute Wiesn Facts for you, so that you don’t have to drop a brick.

Fact 01
The Fotznhobel (literal translation: pussy plane). That is nothing nasty. Really, we promise. That’s Bavarian for harmonica. Cute, isn’t it?

Fact 02
The Kotzhügel (lit. translation: vomit hill). This is the charming nickname for the idyllic meadow behind the tents. But don’t be fooled. There’s a reason the place is called like that.

Fact 03
You won’t get beer at the Oktoberfest. You have to order “A Maß!”.

Fact 04
You can see which gals are ready for a flirt. Just take a look at their apron ribbon. Is the ribbon on the left side, take your chance – a charming pick-up line is a must here, dear gents. Is the ribbon on the right side, then cutie is already taken.

Fact 05
„Tracht“ (lit. translation: traditional costume) comes from tradition – so please, please don’t wear a too shirt Dirndl.

Fact 06
It’s called „Wiesn“. Not „Wiesen“, not „Wies’n“ or „Wiese“.

Wine and Champaign are a no-no. Water is somewhere in the grey area. Actually there’s only one choice of a drink: a Maß.

A Maß equals to 8 shots of spirit. At least if you count the alcohol content.

Die Wiesn ist im Gange. Und wir? Wir haben für euch ein paar niedliche Wiesn Facts zusammengestellt, damit ihr bloß in kein Fettnäpfchen fallt.

Fact 01
Der Fotznhobel. Nein, das ist nichts Unanständiges. Wirklich nicht, versprechen wir. Es ist bayrisch für Mundharmonika. Süß, oder?

Fact 02
Der Kotzhügel. Der liebevolle Kosename für die eigentlich idyllische Wiese hinter den Zelten. Bloß nicht täuschen lassen, das kleine Fleckchen heißt nicht umsonst so.

Fact 03
Auf der Wiesn gibt es kein Bier. Das heißt hier „A Maß!“.

Fact 04
Welche Madln flirtbar sind, seht ihr an ihrem Schleifchen. Ist die Schleife links gebunden, habt ihr Chancen – zumindest mit einem charmanten Anmachspruch, liebe Männer. Ist die Schleife rechts gebunden, ist die Süße leider schon vergeben.
